Captain America Pointer

A Romantic Education - Steve/Tony AU [Chapter 1]

Writers notes: This is an Avengers highschool AU fic written by two people, it’s on going and English is neither one of our first languages so you’ll have to forgive us. Be aware that this is an AU so we’re letting our imaginations run wild so please forgive any inaccuracies.
In this AU we realise that Peggy should in theory, be the same age as Howard but we’ve decided against it just for this fic. Other from that, I hope it makes sense and we’ll try and stick to the correct timelines. Enjoy~  A chapter will be uploaded every Tuesday and Friday

Chapter 1

Steve Rogers leaned on the lockers, wearing a blue and white varsity jacket – after all, he was the captain of the basketball team at SHIELD high and it was just another regular day for him. The hallways were lined with people and buzzed with the sound of weekend gossip.
He always hated Mondays, only because he had Science class second period, but other from that, he loved it. He loved being in school because he knew every day was an adventure, it was like an action movie, starring him as the main character. As much as he pretended to dislike the copious amounts of attention, deep inside, he loved it. He loved being a role model and having groups of friends to hang around and socialise with. He was one of the guys that would be nice enough to mingle between cliques, rather than try and segregate them. Steve Rogers was indeed or at least tried to be, the perfect guy.
The other team-mates of the basketball team walked up to him, also in jackets similar to his, they talked about what they did over the weekend, which in reality, was the same old thing that they did last weekend. It was all so repetitive and it started to bore Steve. He loved his friends, yes, but they just seemed so shallow sometimes. Though the boys instantly stopped their nattering as a group of cheerleaders, in matching blue and white jackets walked by, each with their hair tied perfectly in a high ponytail and a plastic smile stamped on their faces. Everyone in the hallway would stop to admire them, they were perfection, and with their captain – Peggy Carter leading the way.
Steve knew what was coming, though as per usual, he acted surprise,
“Hey Steve.” She said, fluttering her long eyelashes at the built boy before her, leaning closer into him.
“Hey Peggy! What’s new?” He asked with a gentle smile. Yes, he was lucky to have the girl that everyone wanted. Very lucky indeed, and he did count his blessings, though, truth be told, he seemed somewhat awkward around her, as if something wasn’t right.
“Oh, there’s a lot new, I heard that we’ve got a new student coming!”  She said with excitement,
‘Wow, for once there’s something different’.
His mind wondered as to who this new student could be, a new cheerleader maybe, or even someone new for the basketball team, he could always do with more team members, even if they weren’t on first string; they had two other tiers of people, just in case. Something did hit him, it was pretty late in the semester for someone new to be joining, so he would do his best to try and include whoever it was and try and make them feel at home. After all, they must find it difficult, who knows, they might even be socially awkward. In his head he pictured someone meek, with large frames on their face, clutching their books to their chest.
“Well, whoever it is, we’ll make em feel right at home, right guys?” Steve said with a heroic smile and nod of his head, his friends nodding in return.
“I hear this guy is filthy rich, and he’s even got an assistant that’s coming with him, she’s joining the school too.” Peggy said, brushing back a strand that had managed to fall out of place.
“He’s Stark’s kid, you know… The same Stark that helped fund this place?”
Of course Steve knew who Peggy was talking about. Everyone knew who the Starks were. Howard, one of the founders of the school, had a strange relationship with Steve. They had met just once at the first basketball match of the season, though Steve would have the odd dream that they had met in the past, and had been around a similar age. Pictures of a young Howard Stark would flash through his mind, but alas, the one time they did meet – Howard was significantly older than he was. Though he seemed nicer to Steve when they had met, giving him a very warm grin that hinted signs of relief. No, it must all have been in Steve’s mind, he couldn’t have met Howard when he was young, that couldn’t be possible at all.
The hallway began to separate- people standing by either side of the wall whilst someone made their way through. Steve’s bright blue eyes darted toward where all the noise was coming from or what it could be.
“It’s Tony Stark!” One of the kids shouted out as they too backed away to the sides of the hallway, making a clear path for the new student.
‘Who is this guy?’ to make such an entrance and impact, and no one even knew him yet.
