Loki and Steve ended up talking about books that they both liked and were reading, it was a relief that he could get along with this new student, who seemed introverted but once that he had gotten him to talk, it was fine. They enjoyed talking and Steve was quite engrossed in the conversation. He knew Tony was there, he wasn’t oblivious, but he thought they could have their time together when it came to later, there was no need to be with him 24/7, people may be getting the wrong idea from it. Loki smiled and placed his hand on Steve’s shoulder,
“You have fine taste in literature.”
“I can say the same to you.” Steve said as he smiled in return.
“Pepper, he’s touching him now”, Tony said again, turning to look at them.
“Tony, just stop looking at them”, Pepper said as she started to get annoyed. “He’s just being friendly, you worry too much for someone that just wanted to do a science project with him.”
Pepper was right, he shouldn’t worry that much. He saw Steve’s intentions were pure and he seemed like a good guy. Though the fact that they did things together while he was in a relationship didn’t reassure him that he wouldn’t try something with Loki.
The black haired boy leaned over and whispered something into Steve’s ear, he laughed in return and sighed happily.
“Tony, don’t turn around”, Pepper said while noticing the incident.
“Why? What’s happening?” he asked with a long sigh.
“That new guy is whispering something to your boyfriend.”
Tony didn’t look around. “I don’t want to know”, he hissed, stabbing his jacket potato.
They stood up after they had finished their food, Steve was still smiling and so was Loki,
“I’ll see you tomorrow then?” He asked,
“Yes. I look forward to it.” Loki said in response, giving Steve a pat on the shoulder as he walked away.
Tony watched Loki as he walked toward the exit. Yes, it was definite that he wouldn’t get along with him. Seems like he had a certain way to charm people, and Steve wasn’t an exception. He tried to stay calm and not show that he was feeling jealous and stood up.
“Tony? Are you all right?”, Pepper asked.
“Yeah, I’ll just head to the Math class now”, he said loud enough for Steve to hear and started walking outside the cafeteria, hoping that he’ll have some time alone.
Steve looked over his shoulder and noticed that Tony was walking away, he followed him out, “Tony!” He called.
The young Stark let a small sigh as he heard Steve calling his name and turned around. “Yeah?”, he asked, trying not to show any emotion.
“You have math? I thought you said you didn’t have any other class or…” He said as he stood there, confused.
“I said that I have one last class after lunch”, Tony said looking back at Steve. “Maybe you were too busy thinking about the other guy to notice when I said it.”
“What, what are you talking about?” Steve asked, his eyebrows furrowing
“Nothing, I was just making some remarks. Yes Rogers, I have a class now. You should head to the nurse’s office instead”, he said, pointing out to his hand.
“There’s no need Stark, I’m fine. Well I guess I’ll stick around and go to the library with the new kid or something.” He said with a shrug.
“Fine”, said Tony with a stiffed tone. He turned his back and started walking again, intending to ignore Steve if he would mention Loki straight to his face again.
The captain actually had no idea what was going on, or why Tony started acting this way toward him again. He sighed, trying to shake it off but the feeling was still there. Maybe there really was no hope for them after all.
Tony silently cursed himself. He was jealous of the new kid. Steve acted so natural and calm around him, and Tony wanted that too, especially with the man he secretly wanted to have more with. He tried to calm himself down, seeing that they would both see each other later. He stepped in the classroom and picked a seat in the back, placing his head on the desk and closed his eyes.
