Tony ignored him and started preparing the next experiment though his hands were slightly shaking. He was getting annoyed by Steve and the fact that he couldn’t calm himself down.
“Tony, stop.” These last two times were one of the first times that the captain had said Tony’s name with genuine concern in his voice.
“Stop what?” Tony managed to reply with a calmer tone. He didn’t want to show Steve how emotional he could be, especially since he knew that his Father could walk in anytime.
“Look at me Stark, put the stuff down and just breathe.” He said, seeing how nervous Tony was; it was a side of him that he had never seen before.
The dark haired boy placed the objects down, leaned back on his seat and sighed. “I’m fine, Rogers. I just want this done soon”.
Steve stood up and moved so that he was standing opposite Tony, crouching down a little so that he was eye level as he placed a hand on his shoulder, “We’ll get it done, okay? There’s no need to fret around, you’re just putting yourself under pressure. If your dad wants it done, then we already have stuff to show him.” He said in a calm, soothing tone; attempting to help settle Tony’s emotions.
“Yeah I guess so”, Tony muttered, surprised to see Steve moving closer to him, and shivering when he felt his touch. His voice was calm, not angry or nervous like most of the time they had talked to each other. He was struggling not to place his arms around Steve, because it was true, what he wanted right now was someone to hold him close.
“Just stay relaxed and we can do this, we don’t want to get stressed and make mistakes, right?” His eyes seemed to be searching for eye contact as he leaned in close, both hands resting on Tony’s shoulders.
“Yeah you’re right, we need to be efficient”, Tony said looking up to find Steve looking back at him. Without thinking about it twice, he placed his arms around him and buried his head into his chest. “Don’t dare to move Rogers”, he muttered.
Steve’s eyes slightly widened as he felt Tony nuzzle into his chest, “W-what’s this for?” He asked, a faint taint of pink could then be seen in his cheeks.
“Nothing”, Tony said without moving an inch. He needed that; he needed someone to hold close, Steve has been there for a while and he couldn’t hold back anymore. It felt nice, he was just hoped that Steve would hug him back and not push him away.
