Later that same morning, Joss Whedon shot what we can only hope will end up as a deleted scene on the eventual Avengers Blu-ray release: the Stan Lee cameo that was ultimately cut from the film. (Before all you Marvel fans revolt, Stan is still in the film, but in an equally funny cameo at a different point in the movie.) But on that day, Steve Rogers sat in a sidewalk cafe right across the street from Grand Central Station gazing up at an imaginary Stark Tower that would be digitally added later. A cute and clearly interested waitress asks Steve if he is waiting to catch a glimpse of Iron Man, as so many of her customers are, before telling him the table is his for as long as he wants it. As the waitress is walking away, Stan leans over from the next table and good-naturedly growls at Steve, “Ask for her number, ya moron!”
